Wine Spectator 88 points - A sturdy, extracted, cellar-worthy candidate. Both firm and concentrated, this delivers a tight mix of dark berry, spice, cedar and loamy earth notes. Tannic now but should gain with time. Drink now through 2024. 9,244 cases made.-JL

Wine Advocate 89 points - A selection of the finest hillside blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve cuts a deeper swath, and offers more plum, blackcurrant, charcoal and earth characteristics. Medium to full-bodied and rich, it should improve over the next 5-7 years and last for 15 or more. (Dec 2014)
Rich, lush and full bodied, the 2012 vintage displays intense aromas flavors of blackberry, black currant, cocoa and crushed violet. This wine is velvety with a smooth, lingering finish of toasty baking spices and vanilla. Enjoy this wine now with braised short ribs, rosemary crusted leg of lamb or mushroom stroganoff or lay a few bottles down in your cellar to enjoy in 4 to 6 years.
|Our story begins more than 50 years ago, when a celebrated American dancer named Rod Strong settled in Sonoma County to pursue a second lifelong creative passion: winemaking. Rodney Strong Vineyards was the 13th winery bonded in the newly discovered Sonoma County wine industry. A trio of winemaking paths crossed when Rick Sayre joined the team as Winemaker in 1979, and again when the Klein Family, 4th generation California farmers, purchased the winery in 1989 and initiated a renewed commitment of modern artisan winemaking. Through the years, Rodney Strong Vineyards has earned the reputation for critically acclaimed Single Vineyard and Reserve wines, stand out Estate releases and best-in-class Sonoma County varietal wines.
