Made famous in the Rioja region of Spain, Tempranillo is a somewhat unusual varietal in California and in the Alexander Valley. Fruity and velvety, with a round and pleasing tannin structure, our Reserve Tempranillo is a fantastic food wine. This wine is sourced entirely from a four-acre block on our own River Oaks Estate vineyards. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to four-year-old French oak barrels for 18 months of aging. This medium-bodied wine exhibits velvety plum and cherry flavors, highlighted by delicate oak aromas.
|Tempranillo is a wonderful food wine. Try it with grilled meats, tomato-based pasta dishes or leg of lamb. Its lower tannin and fruity character compliment almost any dish.
