Ultimate Beverage Challenge 90 points - Bright fragrances of peach nectar, smoked meat, hickory and teaberry leaves. In the mouth a gentle smokiness gives way to alluring brown sugar and ripe peach flavors. The finish lingers on the palate offering woodsy characteristics. (Apr 2014)
Rock Town Hickory Smoked whiskey is made from a base of red wheat--an somewhat unusual grain in a market that tends to feature corn, barley, and rye--and aged in ex-bourbon American oak prior to bottling. Similar to the scotch whisky style of drying malted barley over peat fires giving it a distinctive "peat reek," Rock Town dries its wheat grain over hickory smoke giving it a highly distinctive and smoky flavor.
