Wine maker notes
Produced predominantly from the family-owned Woods Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, and augmented with Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from the Alexander and Russian River Valleys, our Zinfandel is elegant, food-friendly and nimble. The vineyards are all sustainably farmed and were fermented separately prior to master blending selected barrels into the finished wine.

Teira Wines is a collaboration between Dan & Alexis Donahoe and winemaker William Knuttel. Named after Dan & Alexis’ daughters, Thea & Keira, TEIRA is a loose play on the term “Terrior” and “Tierra” - signifying our commitment to sustainable farming practices and resultant high quality wines. Our mission statement: “Passion, Quality, Value” is meant to communicate our dedication to producing fine wines that always impress, and are priced to drink on an everyday basis. We believe wine is meant to be consumed: not collected! Who Dan Donahoe’s mentor in the wine business was Julia Child, who, among other things, taught him the importance of balanced wines. He has worked in all aspects of the wine business, from his first crush at Cakebread Cellars in 1992, to restaurants, retail and wholesale. Dan started Teira in 2002, and subsequently founded Free Flow Wines in 2009 - pioneering the premium wine on tap category across the US. Alexis Woods holds a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. Overseeing 100 acres of family vineyards in the Southern end of the Dry Creek Valley, she works with experienced Sonoma County vineyard manager Duff Bevill. Bevill Vineyard Management also farms winegrapes for other acclaimed local wineries such as Paul Hobbs, Merry Edwards, Sonoma-Cutrer and Seghesio. Bill Knuttel has been crafting fine wines in both Napa and Sonoma for three decades. He was the founding winemaker of Saintsbury Winery for 13 vintages before crafting the wines at Chalk Hill Winery & Vineyards for 8 years and afterwards for Dry Creek Vineyard as Executive Winemaker for another 8 harvests. Today, Bill produces Teira and his own wines (William Knuttel, Robin K, Ottimino) at his own winery facility on 8th Street East in the town of Sonoma. Where TEIRA’s “Woods Vineyard” estate vineyard is located at 400 West Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg and comprised of 20 acres of Sauvignon Blanc, 4 acres of Zinfandel and 32 acres of Merlot. Located on rich, clay loam soil right on the Dry Creek watershed, the vineyard was planted between 1992 and 2006.
