Ultimate Beverage Challenge 91 points - Fruit leather and forest floor are decidedly earthy on the nose. Soft and fruitier in the mouth, ripe berries come alive within the velvety full texture. Blueberry concentrate and charred earth create a dark flavor profile that finishes incredibly smooth. (Jun 2016)
Wine Spectator 88 points - Solidly built and zesty, with notes of dried cherry, licorice and smoky cracked pepper. Drink now through 2022. 25,865 cases made.

Wine Enthusiast 87 points - Leather saddle wafts from the glass atop ripe cherry, blackberry jam and brown sugar. Tightly wound in tannin and oak, this wine becomes pleasantly juicy on the finish.
Fresh, bright berry fruit from our heritage russian river vineyard combined with the ripe peppery jamminess from our Alexander Valley vineyards make for wonderful diversity of flavor showcasing the best that Zinfandel can offer in one wine
|Our story begins more than 50 years ago, when a celebrated American dancer named Rod Strong settled in Sonoma County to pursue a second lifelong creative passion: winemaking. Rodney Strong Vineyards was the 13th winery bonded in the newly discovered Sonoma County wine industry. A trio of winemaking paths crossed when Rick Sayre joined the team as Winemaker in 1979, and again when the Klein Family, 4th generation California farmers, purchased the winery in 1989 and initiated a renewed commitment of modern artisan winemaking. Through the years, Rodney Strong Vineyards has earned the reputation for critically acclaimed Single Vineyard and Reserve wines, stand out Estate releases and best-in-class Sonoma County varietal wines.
