The wine offers delicate floral high notes and flavors of ripe melon, citrus, mango, and guava. On the palate, its zippy acidity provides structure to juicy notes of grapefruit and honeydew, gooseberry and hints of green grass.
Herbaceous and refreshing lemongrass and citrusy green apple greets you upon uncorking this lovely wine. Slight mineral tastes and white peach tease your palate and leave you with a smooth, light finish. Delicate in and out of the bottle, but enough structure to let you know it means business.
|The fruit was harvested from a certified organic, single-vineyard vineyard in Clear Lake, California and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel. Malolactic was blocked and the wine remained on its lees for 2-3 months.
|Since its first release in 1980, Cartlidge & Browne has won the hearts of consumers who appreciate premium quality wine at modest prices. Paul Moser, winemaker for the past 25 years, a Stanford grad who trained in Burgundy and the Loire Valley, finds the right balance between California fruit and European styling. A master blender, he sources from high quality vineyards throughout the state, emphasizing accurate varietal expression, balance, food-friendliness, complexity and most of all – value!
"Despite the enormous influence of California's wineries, too few specialize in premium wines at value prices. One that does is Cartlidge & Browne. Avoiding the extra oak and other types of manipulation used by some vintners, Cartlidge & Browne produces fruity, pure, and vibrant wines that reflect varietals' personalities. Even better, it offers sensational quality at bargain basement prices.”
