James Suckling 90 points - Distinctly smoky, the 2013 Punto Final Malbec Reserva made me think of a Syrah from the Northern Rhone with those bacon and tar aromas, quite unusual in a Malbec. Yes, the violets are common to both grapes, but other aromas might be assigned by the elevage (10 months in 50% new French oak barrels) that give it a very commercial profile. The palate show grainy, abundant tannins and moderate acidity. 160,000 bottles.
A fruity and velvety red with dried berry and chocolate character and a salty undertone. Full, rich and round textured.
|Pair with grilled meats or tagliatelle with spicy tomato sauce.
