The 2021 Blaufränkisch Ried Pratschweingarten is from the upper reaches of this Leitha limestone site, neighboring Marienthal. The vines were planted in 2001 and it fermented in 1,200-liter barrels of Austrian oak. Smokiness and crushed blackberry notes come with an overtone of black cherry. The palate is beautifully slender, cool and profound with that limestone and superbly fine tannins. This is a wine of great precision and elegance that has turned into purest silk in a Pinot-esque fashion.
